What it is

Abir Ganguly of Walk Collective by Abir leads this photography walk, booked through Immersive Trails, in the days before Kali Puja, when Kumartuli's workshops fill with unfinished Kali idols in black, red and white. The group goes through the narrow lanes, the studios where artisans work and the riverside ghats nearby, with help on light, camera settings, composition and how to conduct oneself on the street, and some practice in low light. It ends with tea, soft drinks and snacks at Kumartuli Ghat.

Any camera or a phone will do. The walk lasts two hours, starts and ends at Jagat Mukherjee Park, and is guided in English, Bengali and Hindi. Group walks start at 3 PM on 31 October, 1 November and 7 November, and a cancellation up to 24 hours ahead is refunded in full.
