The Barge Company sails its vessel from Outram Ghat on the evenings of Durga Puja, and this is the sailing for Shoshti, Saturday 17 October. Boarding starts at 4:30 pm and the barge sets sail at 5:00 pm. On board is what the organisers call Kolkata's only sailing Durga idol installation, with live dhaakis and a dhunuchi naach that guests may join.
The barge passes the riverfront's landmarks and Howrah Bridge around sunset. Street food such as puchkas and chaats is included, and artists perform through the evening. Seating is first come, first served, in an outdoor space with seated and standing areas.
All ages may come, and a ticket is needed from age 5. Tickets start at ₹1,999 and are sold on District.
