What it is

A two-hour photo walk curated by Abir Ganguly and booked through Immersive Trails, held at 4:45 PM on 13, 14 and 15 October. It starts and ends at Jagat Mukherjee Park. In the days after Mahalaya the finished Durga idols leave Kumortuli, and the walk follows that journey rather than the making: the group stays on the main roads and the edges of the potters' quarter, where idols are carried out of the lanes and lifted onto trucks bound for the puja mandaps, and does not enter the workshops.

The guide helps throughout with light, camera settings, composition and how to conduct oneself on the street. Participants are asked to keep a respectful distance, not to block workers or vehicles and to avoid intrusive flash. Tea or coffee is included.

The walk is led in English, Bengali and Hindi.
